I've heard discussion on sports channels of a playoff format of the conference's six best records. First weekend, the bottom 4 play. Winners of that weekend play top two finishers. Another way to encourage teams to win more, not just beat regional teams. No longer playoff season. No loss of preseason game, which players say is important because players compete for starting positions in preseason.

I'm of the opinion that they should just keep it the same - even if a team with a 7-9 record wins their division they should be the #4 seed.

Funny how some of those teams actually go far in playoffs. Could be players coming back from injury.

I like the current setup, too but then I'm not one for major changes!

A lot of people who aren't fans of teams not making the playoffs are pretty OK with the current system. Funny to see Goodell trying to placate fans of teams who don't make it. Those fans might better complain to their team management about personnel decisions. But if they can whimper to Daddy Goodell, they think they might get at least a season that is one game longer (it is a fantasy that the extra wild cards are somehow magically be contenders)

Who are these fans that are able to BEND Goddell's ear and get him to add teams to the playoffs??

tha'ts just bologna..

Goddell wants to expand the playoffs to create more revenue.. that is his #1 job as the commissioner of the NFL. Make the owners more money..

As a Bills fan, it really doesn't make a difference to me. We're cursed regardless.

Assuming his godlike wisdom is the only one that can see the right way clearly. If 24 owners don't come around, that'll be a good verdict on the Great Prophet Goodell.

Current setup for me.

If they go to a top six format - get rid of the divisions, since they will be useless.

I'd love to see it like BCS. Best 12 get into playoffs no matter what division status is. I think its a shame that Dallas should have "a chance" on the last day of the regular season when they've sucked all year.
