Some people in Chicago (who know nothing about sports) tell me it's a hockey town. I'm sure that's a lot of recency bias though, since all their are other teams range from meh to terrible.

I believe that the Ravens, not the Orioles, are numero uno in Bawlmer (Baltimore).

The Ravens are definitely better at the moment (and have been for almost as long as they've been around). But Baltimore is still a baseball city.

Those people don't know what they're talking about.

I agree, Santa Clara is no where near San Francisco.

How about the....
Foxboro Patriots
New Jersey Jets
Glendale Cardinals
New Jersey Giants
Arlington Cowboys

Thoughts?
Atlanta:
I'm not saying it's a great pro football town (it cares more about college football than anything) but the Falcons are the most popular of the pro teams.

Chicago:
Toss-up between the Bears and the Cubs/White Sox. The tradition and enthusiasm is extremely deep for both sports.

Houston:
Seriously? It's the Texans.

Here's another take on your question, but it's by state:

The Cardinals have only been the most popular team in Arizona for about 7 years. Prior to that there was no question that the Suns (NBA) was the most popular team in town. I'd argue that the change was due to the fact that the Mike Bidwell took over the Cardinals (and he's competent and not a cheapskate like his father) whereas Robert Sarver bought the Suns (and he is an incompetent cheapskate).
