1. Week 17 no matter where you live you get 2 CBS and 2 Fox Games

2. Week 17 there is never a Monday Night Game

I just don't remember hearing why these two things happen every season during week 17. Never made sense why it's not atleast a sunday night game the last game of the season.

There's Sunday night games or am I not understanding what you are saying? Steelers/Bengals play on Sunday night and the game is on NBC at 8:30 Eastern. They always flex the most interesting game (in their eyes) to Sunday night. I think they flexed 3 games, Packers went from noon to late afternoon, Steelers to the evening and maybe Rams/Seahawks to the late afternoon slot.

With the playoff starting the next weekend, any team playing Monday Night would have one less day to rest and prepare. And if Week 17 MNF was two teams not going to the playoffs, no one would watch.

To me, the most ridiculous programming they ever hit us with was when the Thursday Night Edition of Monday Night Football was postponed to Friday Night!

i think its a year to year thing... It really depends on what day Christmas and New Years fall on.

Plus they don't want to compete against a college football championship bowl game..

Looking back over the past decade plus, there have been many years when they had games on Saturday of the final week but the last time they had a Monday night game in week 17 was in 2002.. so i guess, that game is no longer on the table...

Compete with a bowl game? It would be no competition
