The fan reactions to this game remind me exactly of the reactions after the Fail Mary call in Seattle against Green Bay.
Basically, the entire country except for the home team benefitting from the call could easily admit that the calls were a joke.
It would be nice to actually have a REALISTIC conversation about all of this.
Your right, it would but unfortunately that is not gonna happen because of all the refs WANTED the Cowboys to win and the Cowboy "America's Team" conspiracy theorist!

i will take a stab....realistically, a defensive hold could have been called for Hitchens grabbing the jersey....Pettigrew grabbed Hitchens facemask, so offensive PI could have been called. If Hitchens threw his hands up in Pettigrews face, then PI could have been called. Hitchens didnt do that, the ball hit him in the back. so if you dont call the defensive hold OR offensive PI, i believe picking up the flag was a good call

Well, not really the ENTIRE country... mainly because the Seattle/Packer play was the FINAL play of the game.. and this one was NOT.... Penalties get called every game, penalties flags get picked up every game.. EVERY GAME. This game is no different in that light than any other game. Also, PI gets called in every game and PI doesn't get called, when it should in every game.. notice the common theme.. EVERY GAME! What happened in the Seahawks/Packers game where two players from opposing teams come down in the endzone with a ball on the final play of the game DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY Game.. seriously!

In American and Canadiangridiron football, pass interference (PI) is a foul that occurs when a player interferes with an eligible receiver's ability to make a fair attempt to catch a forward pass. Pass interference may include tripping, pushing, pulling, or cutting in front of the receiver, covering the receiver's face, or pulling on the receiver's hands or arms. It does not include catching or batting the ball before it reaches the receiver. Once the ball touches any defensive player or eligible offensive receiver the above rules no longer apply and the defender may tackle the receiver or attempt to prevent him from gaining control of the ball.
PUSHING with his left arm is what Hitchens did while the ball was in the air and the defender didn't turn around to make a play on the ball....its DPI........picking up the flag was a good call???? 3 fouls on Dallas if you want to get technical.....the worst scenario was to replay 3rd down if you want to find any justice in the play.
now this deserves a 15 yard penalty and it doesn't matter the other fouls by the receiver and HItchens: 15 yards and first down:

The rule regarding Dez is that you are told to leave and you have to immediately do so. If you don't, it's a penalty. Dez immediately left so no foul. It's not an automatic penalty but could have been thrown.
It should have been offsetting penalties and replay of the down. Hitchens held and Pettigrew grasped his facemask.
I personally hate both teams and frankly they were hand fighting then the ball hit the detroit guy in the back and then came the major contact.
I light of the no-call earlier in the play it seeme like the ref was just kinda "letting them play".
While I don't disagree with that and there certainly could have been offsetting penalties on the play the pass interference at the very end wasn't that blatant as the various posted clips don't show whom instigated the hand fighting and the stuff after the ball hits the defender does not matter.
In summary, it was bad reffing and I don't see a need for it to be a conspriracy.
Suck it up Detroit fans, people get screwed with bad calls from time to time but the bottom line is that the one call was just part of the collapse.
