You can say what you like. People have been saying all year that this is a new and improved Patriots defense. Yet they gave up 31 points to Baltimore. This is not the first time I've heard good things about the Pats' D. I remember hearing how Talib was so great, blah blah blah. When the game was on the line, Revis gave up a TD, but Sherman had an INT. Seattle can and likely will score points on the Patriots defense. NE is apparently ranked #17 on pass defense, which is only about 10 yards/game better than the Ravens' pass defense (#23), which was one of the worst pass defenses I've ever seen in my life. If he were anywhere near Sherman, I'd think they'd at least be ranked in the top 10.

8th scoring defense in the league. That's good by any measure. Yards and crap much less important then points. And guess what? It's a team sport. Defense gives up some points and the offense scores more and wins. The Patriots deserve to be there. Say otherwise you are clueless about the team sport.

I never said they don't deserve to be there. I said the opposite, in fact.

And by points allowed, they were #10 last year and #9 2 years ago. A large part of this is the dominance of their offense. When their offense gets shut down, things get ugly. So I'm not buying into their defense, sorry.

I suppose we could argue all day about statistics and such, but at the end of the day stats are just great coffee room conversation. And things getting ugly: All I know is this - the Patriots went to their 4th AFC Championship in a row this year, so I'll take whatever ugly you're talking about. I could care less about stats. Offense or defense, this reason or that reason - irrelevant. They consistently play at a high level and win. That's all that matters.

Did you know that only one team beat both the Seahawks and Patriots this year? The Chiefs. Odd, huh?

I think many picked these two teams before the season started.
When you look back at the teams that made the playoff I had little doubt this would be the outcome. They were the best two teams in the playoffs in my opinion, of course.

Like the AFC Championship game?

Like when they were down to Baltimore and came back (twice)?

Those were the last times they mattered most.
