The NFL is a business for profit, and a huge one at that. They are not a catering service to the fans. As long as the stadiums get filled, and the merchandise is purchased, they will not care how many disgruntled fans there are. If you're selling out stadiums, and getting huge TV advertising contracts, that's all they need. Throughout sports history, the only way you could send a message to a league would be a fan-wide boycott, but that will never happen.
actually they are a "dot org" in terms of their tax status, funny considering they are a , what? 30 BILLION dollar enterprise whose CEO makes 40-some MILLION per year.
When I lived in Missouri in the 90s I was glad to see St. Louis getting the Rams.
Here we are 20 years later and NFL is already talking about moving them to another city unless NFL get a new stadium
Does NFL have any loyalty to its fans?
Seems like NFL teams offer zero loyalty to their fans.
Keep in mind, I have a different perspective because I grew up watching soccer where teams have been playing in the same city for more than 100 years even when they go almost bankrupt they stay in the same city.
What are your thoughts about NFL team loyalty to fans and NFL relocating teams when cities don't build them a stadium?
It's a two-way street....are the Rams selling out their games?
A while back during negotiations when strikes and the like occurred, there was a strong movement to have equal representation of: Owners, players and fans. Fans as represented by elected representatives, would be organized and show solidarity in their interest. It gained some steam and looked like it might have wings, but then some law firm shot it down under the threat of suits and bye, bye it went.
I get the whole, "it's a business" idea and it is. HOWEVER, we are the customers of that business and pay for every penny of revenue they receive. Should we not have a say? At least indirectly? Problem is, Americans these days can't seem to stand for anything and are sheeple and do whatever feels right in the moment.
In the end its a booming business. It takes money like any other top sport. Its like the super bowl it takes certain things for hosting city which includes a top rated stadium; weather. No one wanted to be in the snow problem last week for a super bowl. for instance at the prices to travel stay and high ticket prices. Just fact of life.
The only loyalty in all of team sports are the uniforms. Doesn't matter who the players are or who they palyed for in years past." Fans just cheer for clothing".
The NFL (the league itself) exists to make money, not to be loyal.
Not to mention their Tax Exempt Status. That should p*ss off most NFL fans.
