And it seems like he was comfortable with being a backup once he went to the Giants and also Arizona. So that's why he won't be a first ballot hofer because he was a backup for so many years after his career with the Rams.

Except for the Giants, that is.

But if you ask the Selection Committee, no, he's not.

That's because the "committee" doesn't watch the games and take them into context and if they do watch the games, they really dont know what they're watching. If Warner wins those Super Bowls vs N.E. and Pitt, this entire discussion of him in the HOF is different.....yet, him winning those games or losing those games didn't make him better or worse, he's still the same player, those games came down to extenuating circumstances that could easily have gone his way and should have gone his way.

As far as the crying goes, i'm a little more advanced than just a person who looks at boxscores and just holds the final result as the be all end all. There is context to games and events and plays, i like to go deeper than just looking at the end result, the best player or best team doesn't always win, i like to give credit where credit is due....if an extenuating circumstance beat you rather than you getting your tail kicked fair and square, i consider that a factor...im not just a 'boxscore tells all' kind of guy.

Never thought of him as an HoFer, let alone first ballot. He's simply never been in the conversation in my mind. He was good. He was not elite for a long enough period to be considered for the HoF, IMO.

If Tim Brown got in, Warner will get in.

Absolutely. Three good years, one decent year, three poor/injured years. And in the context of playing in a Denver system that routinely produced 1,200 yard RBs. No way he'd get on my ballot. Even less deserving than Warner.

I'd have been on the fence with Bettis.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to see why this thread was created.

Plus the fact we have a thread for discussion on the 2015 HOF inductees and one that was strted last year and revived just recently for players deserving to be in the HOF.
