Frank Cooney voted for Brett Favre as the NFL MVP for the 2007 season. Even as a Packer fan and Brett Favre fan, I had questioned what specific reasoning would lead someone away from Brady, or another deserving player IMO who made Brady's numbers possible, Randy Moss.

But Cooney gave his explanation to the Boston Globe, and while I'm sure almost every Brady and Patriot fan out there disliked it, there is some reasoning to it that makes a lot of sense.

Quote:
The lone voter who picked Favre for the Associated Press MVP award explained his selection to The Boston Globe. Frank Cooney of The Sports Xchange told the newspaper he voted for Favre over Tom Brady, who received the other 49 votes, because "Favre was the quarterback and unquestioned leader of the youngest team in the NFL, one that was expected to win only five games. He led that team to 13 wins. I think that was a more valuable individual achievement than what Brady managed with his great team."

Of course, last year Brady led a team with no big-name WRs to the AFC Championship game.
