And what games to air when? I'm just curious, my team has mostly noon games this year.
Which is fine by me, makes it easier to go down the road to watch it with other fans (down the road being about 475 miles, LOL).
By looking into their crystal ball and trying to decide what games will bring in the highest viewing percentage. They are never right, so they invented schedule flexing.
With 11 of 16 early games scheduled this coming season, I have a feeling your Saints will see a bit of flex for sure.
CBS shows AFC games, FOX shows NFC games. If an NFC team is playing an AFC team on the road, FOX shows it. If an AFC team is playing an NFC on the road, CBS shows it.
Monday Night Football is a set schedule that does not change. Same goes for Thursday Night Football. Sunday Night Football has the ability to flex games into prime time if they're able to come to an agreement with the NFL and the network that was originally scheduled to broadcast the game. CBS and FOX also have the ability to flex games from the 1 pm slot to the 4 pm slot. They'll usually do this when a big match up occurs later on in the season that did not look to be that big when they laid out the schedule. Every week both CBS and FOX try to get the big match ups that week on the 4:25 pm time slot.
Mountain and Pacific time zone teams always play at 4 pm for their home games, provided it's not a prime time game.
I was surprised when the Packers schedule came out, they only have 9 noon games. However, quite a few have an * for flex so that could happen if something more interesting crops up. Last year with AR out, they got flexed, which wasn't a big shock!
Big marketable teams (ie NY Giants, cowboys, etc) will have an edge over teams like the Cardinals, Chargers, etc....
The teams who look to do well (or did well in '13) ie: Patriots/Broncos/Seahawks will have more primetime games...
Also, when playoff time comes around, schedules will be determined by who will draw the largest ratings...(ie the Panthers played the 49ers last year at 1:00EST! (10am PST!) That is just ludicrous for a west coast team (in the playoffs mind you)
But its all about the money and fans are down on the list to maybe 6th or 7th....

The bold above is actually changing this year.
These are CBS games this year which in the past would have been FOX games...
Chicago at Detroit (Thanksgiving Day, 11/27) Washington at San Francisco (11/23) Carolina at Baltimore (9/28)
Also Thursday night games

Buffalo at Detroit (10/2)
is the buffalo game a give back for the cbs thanksgiving game?
both early traditional games (Detroit and Dallas) are NFC vs NFC games this year so maybe with cbs hving the detroit game the at Detroit game later balances the numbers not sure

Are there any other departures on the schedule?
On Sundays, not that I noted.
Saturday games on week 16 are flexed.
SD @ SF
Phi @ Was
One game on NFLNet, the other on CBS. So Phi @ Was could be CBS.
I'd like to add that certain markets have 2 teams (NYC and the Bay Area), so if they both play on a Sunday afternoon, one team has to play the early window (1 pm ET/10 am PT) and one team plays the late window (4 pm ET/1 pm PT). It usually means one of the teams is at home, or both teams are on the road that weekend.
