I'm old enough to remember when there were far less commercials during NFL football
games. You could actually relax and think about the game. The commentators had
time to, you know, COMMENT. We were allowed to get a feel of the atmosphere.
Now, it's just terrible. Continuity and flow is hard to get a sense of. It's all rushed.
You're trying to absorb something then bang ! Here comes an offensive commercial.
Making this overabundance of interruption even worse is the new flying banners
and logos the studios are interjecting into the cutoffs. I do not need to see a flying
logo threaten to pierce my television screen. It does nothing for my excitement level.
Are you aware that NFL broadcasts in Europe have about half as many commercials ?
Concerning the PAT, keep that at 1, but make the conversion 3 points.
The 2 point conversion is not being used often because the number 2 is
not often an enviable one in football scoring. They only go for 2
when the 2 "works", which is not often because the FG is 3. So, make the conversion 3, perhaps
set its starting point back a little further, and you'll see a lot more teams go for 3 than 2.
It's also right in line with the 3 of the FG, which would work a lot better.
