A coworker and I were discussing this earlier today and we were wondering who the first NFL player was to successfully renegotiate his contract before it ended. Does anyone know? That opened floodgates that surely no one back then could've foreseen.

Initially, it looks like a bigger win for the Saints, who'll have a tremendous offense now. Hopefully the Giants will make good use of those draft picks next year. And hopefully the Giants haven't forgotten that there's football to be played this year! They've lost a lot of talent during this off-season, which concerns me. At least last year's sensational rookies will have an extra year of exp. ... assuming they can avoid the sophomore jinx! Go Giants!!
Let's go Giants! They looked good in the first half of Game 2 while the starters were out. Then the scrubs came in and let the Browns make the score more respectable. Big Blue Wrecking Crew ... let's repeat!!
Bad break for the GMen. Good news for my Eagles. Hey, I hear Strahan will come back for 8 million.
It's really horrible. But I know the other 3 teams and their fans within the NFC East are silently happy. I read a couple things on espn.com and the "experts" are doubting Strahan would return, unless the Giants threw a lot of money at him, maybe in the $10-12M range.
Giants fans have to realistically hope that Spags, (the "D" coordinator) can work some magic again w/ the personnel he has. : \
