You just knew they were going to lose after your post. It's just like an announcer gushing about the best free throw shooter in the league as he puts up a couple bricks. Murphy's law I believe it's called.
I think it is one of the most I could remember...does anyone remember any others? By crazier I mean by more upsets, more injures, etc.
Injuries? Depends on which teams you are referring to. Take Atlanta for example last year when both Jones and White went down..completely changed their season. Injuries are just part of the game, but the concussion protocol has cut down some of the long term effects of that type of injuries. (hopefully)
Upsets? Yeah I will have to agree with that one. Not only upsets but the number of games decided in OT.
Right now 11 out of 16 teams in the AFC are playing below .500 and 10 of the NFC teams are playing below .500. That leave only 11 out of 32 teams above .500.
I believe seeing more games comeing down to the wire is a product of offenses being so much better than they were circa 2005. And it seems they have just gotten better and better every year since then.
Even an average offense can drive the ball down the field with ease at times when given 4 downs to do so late in a game.
And 9 times out of 10 a good QB will be able to at least get the ball down to the 35 yard line.
Officiating, good or bad, depending on which team you are rooting for always balances out by games end.
You only hope that is true. The fact that bad calls can be made and are made means that somewhere along the line a game will be decided by one or more bad calls. The only ay it could be balanced out is over many games. Given hat there are only 16 regular season games for each team, a season can be determined by bad refs.
