November 1978 Saints at Cowboys.
Back when the Cowboys were a class organization under Tom Landry and Roger Staubach, we flew into Dallas for a Sunday game. It was COLD !
A business associate of my dad's had some tickets and invited us to go.
We saw the Cowboys win. The Saints QB was a total loser named Archie Manning who would go on to spawn to future Hall of Famers and Super Bowl winners. I remember watching him and thinking "How did this guy ever make ti to the NFL?" Some people say that he was a great QB on a bad team...well, I assure you, he was a BAD QB on a Bad team !
It was fun. The C'Boys had a loyal following back then, and the old Texas Stadium, though it was brutally cold that day, was a decent venue and seeing legends like Staubach, Dorsett, and Landry made it worth the trip.
It was December 8, 1974 at the old Schaefer Stadium in Foxborough. Chuck Fairbanks was the coach and Jim Plunkett the QB. The Patriots lost to the Steelers 21-17. Back then there were metal bleachers that were numbered. We used to bring sleeping bags to sit in because you'd freeze your ass off on the cold metal. The parking was chaotic and would regularly take 3-4 hours to get out of the lot.
I've been going regularly since then.

I had forgotten that the Boston Patriots had drafted Plunkett as the number one pick in the 1971 draft, I always remember him as an Oakland Raider and the Super Bowl XV win over the Eagles in 1981.
it was around 1968 against the Bears at the old Met Stadium in Bloomington, I think we lost but all I really remember was Gayle Sayers running over, through and around our defense all game and he looked to be a man playing against boys.
What was the first ever football game you went to?
I was a dumb little freshman high school kid.
I went with somebody to our high school team's game at a school across town. The other team was red. We were blue. We cheered and yelled and screamed like little girls all game long. The game ended and we asked, "Who won"?
Everybody looked at us like we were crazy.
We found out later that our team had lost - badly.
1973 or 1974 when the New York Giants played at the Yale Bowl in Connecticut while Yankee Stadium was being refurbished and Giants Stadium was being built.
I remember Norm Snead was the quarterback, but I don't remember whom they played, maybe the Eagles, or what the final score was.
Indeed, the Giants were better forgotten in the 1970s: I remember a banner on television at one of the Gaints' first home games at Giants Stadium, probably in 1976, "new stadium, same old Giants", then a few years later, in 1978, The Fumble against the Eagles, when Joe Pisarcik was quarterback and Herman Edwards recovered it and scored.
Of course things turned around in the 1980s, but I never went to Giants Stadium, though some cousins did on a regular basis.
