A new report accuses the NFL and St. Louis Rams of brokering a deal that would allow the team to avoid appearing on an intrusive TV show, and the league to avoid a PR disaster.
...
According to Balzer, the NFL feared a PR disaster that would ensue if Sam went undrafted. The Missouri Tigers product and former SEC Defensive Player of the Year was projected as a late-round pick, but as the draft neared the end, Sam remained on the board. The Rams ended up taking him at pick No. 249 out of 256.
Also - it is suggested that the 7th round pick on defense they really wanted was preserved by the NFL, and the Rams picked him up later.
I thought Hard Knocks would go away after a time or two, I guess NFL Network still needs to fill air time! I watched about 5 minutes (or less) once, not worth my time.
It is interesting that the Rams will be featured on Hard Knocks this year. They also are slated to play a game in China in 2018. You almost wonder if this was "punishment" for cutting Sam?
Yeah, the Sam rumor does appear to have legs and is growing. The China thing I don't get, especially with flight times, jet lag, etc.! London is tricky enough but going backwards in time has always been trickier (for me at least), more of an adjustment.
