I don't always get contract numbers, salary hits for a given year, etc., and how they say some contracts are team friendly or a home town discount???
Interesting to me, Aaron Rodgers so far down the list, when fans around the North were saying the Packers paid him too much, they would start to go downhill, not being able to keep other players.
Some QBs are making big bucks for less than spectacular play, too. There are other interesting lists, too like what amounts are guaranteed, what percentage. Looking at the number Suh is making is rather amazing.
Looking at a one-year salary doesn't really tell you much.
Some contracts are more incentive-laden than others. More often than not they're either back-loaded or front-heavy, meaning you really have to look at the entire contract as a whole. And from the team's point of view, what's the cap-hit?
It's very possible for a player to have a lower base salary than another in 2016, yet have a much better deal. And vice-versa.
Flacco and Rivers make over twice what Rogers and Wilson make? We are not being told half the story.
much of this has to do with cost of living, at least in the case with Rogers. You can get a (relatively) decent house in Green Bay for about $1,000 as they don't use conventional building materials but pretty much pile up whatever is laying around and cover the whole thing up with some peat moss and throw some grass seed over the top of that.
Most of these are not simply salary but also include signing bonuses. For example, Brady signed an extension that came with a sizeable bonus, hence why his number is so high for this year. For the rest of the years of the deal, he will actually make significantly less then a lot of QBs in the league. It's common to see QBs that just signed new deals new the top of this list, because they usually get tons of guaranteed money up front, though this can vary by contract.
