Hall of Fame broadcaster Tom Jackson is calling it quits after a 29-year career.
ESPN announced Wednesday that the 65-year-old NFL analyst is retiring from broadcasting. Jackson's final assignment will be this weekend at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
Love the old Primetime shows back then. This is from season 1.
He stepped in the broadcast booth right after his retirement with the Denver Broncos, where he played for 14 seasons, from 1973 to 1986. With ESPN purging the payroll and employees, I'm not very surprised by this announcement, plus the fact that he is 65.
I recall a short stint of Tom Jackson on tv doing local Denver sports, can't remember which channel. He'd pick the upcoming games and when he got down to the bottom of the barrel, like a game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs the New Orleans Aints, he'd call it the "Who Cares? Category". Anybody remember that?
Never cared much for Tom "I have no sources but I'll make it up as I go" Jackson..
He'll forever live in infamy in New England for his 2003 comments about Bill Belichick after getting rid of Lawyer Milloy and the Pats losing to Milloys new team, the Bills......Jackson went on air to state “I want to say this very clearly: they hate their coach, and their season could be over”
Never mind that Jackson hadn't talked to a single Pat's player, never mind that Jackson himself had never won anything in Denver....
Of course Belichick and the Pats went on to win 21 straight games including SB 38 after Jackson's assinine statement..
After the SB win Jackson tried to talk to BB, Belichick looked at him, said "F*** you" and moved on.....
LOL. I heard something along those lines a few weeks ago on the radio.
Must be nice being a Pats fan if that's the only thing undef your skin (besides Goodell) in the last 15+ years.
