5-4 through the early games: Texans, Bungals, Giants and Panthers were the losers.
I haven't looked through the entire thread yet, but was I the only one that picked the Bills over the Cardinals or did someone else get it?? Also, what was the pick percentage of the Giants/Redskins?? As usual, any given Sunday.
I'm 7-6 with the Bucs vs Rams still in a weather delay, and with the Cowboys and Saints in the primetime games. I picked the Bucs in that delayed game.
Some thoughts on the teams I whiffed on:
Bills: Yeah, they're 1-2, but they've scored 30+ in two consecutive weeks. Plus in 2 of their 3 games they've held their opponent below 20 points. There may be something here. Can they convert it into wins?
Vikings: Just 3 games in this team has shown itself to be highly resilient. This is the kind of team that can make some noise in the playoffs.
Redskins: Not even local radio hosts expected this win. Sure the Giants haven't been world beaters in their 2-0 start, but they've had some serious success against the Redskins in the Meadowlands. Great first win for a team that desperately needed it.
Raiders: That defense showed up and that will be the talk of the town this week in Oakland. Lost in that excitement is the reality that a mid-tier defense shut that high flying Raiders offense down. But hey, a win is a win.
Colts: An 0-2 start has become standard in Indy. But not 0-3. As for the Chargers, I'm happy to have missed on this one. At least one AFC West team not named the Broncos lost!
Eagles: My favorite kind of bird to eat is turkey, but this Eagles team has served me up some crow. Picking them against the Browns was a no brainer. Picking against them against the Bears was dumb in hind sight. After this win, they certainly warrant a little more notice going forward.
It was an exciting week with some interesting results. The Rams lead the Bucs 37-32 and hopefully the skies clear up enough for that game's finish soon enough.
Well, with the Rams @ Bucs going final I'm 7-7. The Bucs went for 2 to bring it to 31-28 but failed. Later, trailing 37-26 they scored a TD and were obliged to go for 2 and again failed. The moral of this story: Don't chase points. Never go for 2 until you absolutely have to.
