Give the team the option to take less yards and loss of down.

So a holding penalty is usually 10 yards. Give team that had penalty committed against the option of penalty the other team the 10 yards and replay down or 5 yards and lose down.

For 5 yard penalties either 5 yard penalty or loss of down.

So 3rd and 5 and false start. Now it's 4th and 5 and they have to punt.

For penalties that already have loss of down (grounding) lengthen the yardage penalty.

Loss of down is a severe penalty. About the only time a loss of down is imposed is on Intentional Grounding because it was done to avoid losing massive yardage. A false start, losing a down is overkill on the penalty.

I don't like the idea of a 3rd and 5 turning into a 4th and 5 punting situation. I think that would be bad for the game.

Don't like it at all. Too drastic on minor infractions and too complicated to enforce without delay.

Think it'd be better for the refs to call the penalties they should as they're written today. It seems they have a real issue with that.

Would also be great if they got rid of the penalties for players having fun playing a game.

Some players take it too far.. But.. Back in the day.. The Fun Bunch, the Three Amigos.. They had TD celebrations and it didn't ruin the game.

Penalties for hugging a ref.. for a "bow and arrow" gesture.. getting a bit ridiculous. Vernon Davis getting a penalty for shooting the ball like a basketball through the goalposts..

Of course.. I must remember.. Back in the day.. People didn't celebrate after every pedestrian play. Who was it last year that did a big celebration for scoring a TD when his team was down 35-0?

As long as players aren't being profane in their celebration they should let it go. It's a game and they need to inject some fun into it, per the low ratings. The NBA and even MLB have more fun during the game than what the NFL players are allowed.

The refs during this Seahawk/Bills game just ruined the end of the 1st half on just a horrible job. Again, they just need to make the calls on the field correctly.

How about if a defender comes off side on a FG attempt and roughs a kicker they enforce a 15 yard penalty against the defense?

Well duh...of course....

Same goes for "batting balls out of end zone", illegal unless a Seattle player feels inclined to do the honors...
