With Rogers still to play, I would so far through week 17 have to give the award to Ryan over Brady.

In my opinion, the arguments for Brady are:

1. Best record in the league
2. Lost his #1 receiver with 5 games to go and still finished strong.
3. Extremely good stats, second to only Matt Ryan.

Working against Brady:
1. Has the benefit of playing with the leagues top scoring defense and top 10 yardage defense.
2. Missed four games.
3. Team looked sharper than ever in three out of the four games with the only loss being with a rookie at the helm with a broken finger.

For Ryan:
1. Best QB stats in the league.
2. Supported by a bottom 10 defense in terms of both yardage and points given up.

Against Ryan:
1. Team lost 5 games.
2. Directly responsible for losing the Chiefs game.

There is not a huge a gap between Ryan stats and Brady's stats. Yes, I do use QB rating as the end all be all for QB stats. If Ryan were supported by say an average defense and certainly if he were supported by a top 10 defense, then I would probably be leaning towards Brady with the stats being very close. But I think I have to give it to Ryan.

Brady had a very nice game today, as did Ryan. Now we will see what Rogers does. But Rogers is so far behind the other two statistically. I don't really give any bonus points for "winning late" and playing well in the second half vs just being more consistent from start to finish.

Ryan has rebounded nicely from the KC loss. I would be surprised if he doesn't get the award at this point

Well, if it is any indication (usually is) many of the voters who vote for the All Pro team (not fan related only sports writers, media types) also vote for MVP (50 votes), Ryan will be the MVP, Tom will probably 2nd and Aaron 3rd.

I have no problem with this as Ryan has played very well. However, Tom and Aaron have meant more to their teams, I think. Ryan has the stats but in my mind (many will disagree) Tom and Aaron were more valuable to their teams. Aaron dragged the Packers back from the depths, got the youngsters on this team to believe. Tom being suspended and coming back, something to be said for that, works for and against him.

I don't want to start an argument, just my thoughts and it is o.k. if Ryan gets it, but of course, I favor Tom and Aaron.

I agree and think you are right in how the vote will go (has gone believe its already done)

The one point I disagree on is I think the Falcons D is nothing special and I don't think Falcons make the playoffs never mind second seed without the stellar play of Ryan. I think he has both the stats and the "most valuable" to his team look

You're probably right, I've always had somewhat of a mental block about Ryan! Should have known about the "D" though as Packers kept the game close, lost by 1 point. If their defense was spectacular that wouldn't have happened.

No disrespect to Brady but I think it is pretty clear that this year he is the one of the three that is "least valuable" to his team if we look at it from the standpoint of what would there team records be without each QB.

And yet Packers were 4-6 "with" Rodgers. I think its pretty clear this is a 2 man race between Ryan and Brady

And they very well would have finished 4-12 if Rogers missed the last six games. Patriots are not losing 3 straight let alone six straight without Brady.

I agree with you, it is a two man race in my eyes. And as stated before Ryan is the clear winner for me. But the mass media has made this a three man race with Rogers but I think he finishes a distant third.
