Reminds of when the Raiders lost Jason Campbell. That was the last time the Raiders had a good team. Losing Campbell was basically the end of the season for the team.

Can someone tell me why Carr was still in the game anyway...they were way ahead. Wonder if this will influence teams like Dallas to take their key players out or sit them completely? 3 broken leg injuries today, wow. Wonder if Romo will play half of the last game...

Condolences to Raiders fans, it certainly is a big blow. No doubt the offense has led this big run, while the defense has been suspect.

Based on the points stats, the Raiders are the number three offense (Atlanta is number one), but only in the middle of pack in terms of defense; in fact, among playoff contenders, it has given up the most points except for Atlanta.

As such, I wouldn't expect the Falcons or Raiders to make it very far in the playoffs, even with Derek Carr, and now that much less of an expectation without him.

New England, followed by Dallas, are at the top of the pack in terms of points differential, Seattle number five. Outside of Oakland and Atlanta, almost all the other playoff contenders account for nine of the top ten in terms of point differential, while Miami trails at number fourteen.

Of course that could change a bit after today and the final week's games, but the point, as it were, is made.

Nevertheless, on any given Sunday (or other day of the week nowadays) any team can be any team, so no one can totally discount the Raiders.

Good Luck!

a lot of players dont expect injuries like the one carr suffered, so they tend to want to remain in the game. and coaches let them play. also note that a lot of QB contracts have bonuses for a lot of things, so it can be a money issue as well.

as for romo getting into the game, its possible, but since he is a bit delicate these days, if he gets injured, do you put prescott back in? or do you go to your emergency back up sanchez, meaning prescott wont be back in that game by rule.

I don't see them winning any games without Carr once the playoffs start. Prime example is that Panthers game when the Raiders was losing and Carr was the sole reason they came back and won. They don't have that now and since their defense is not that good I believe they have not shot of winning.

That also caused one of the most baffling trades in the past few years for Carson Palmer which cost Oakland a #1 and #2.

The most success I seen a backup QB have in the playoffs when the starter was hurt is winning the wildcard game and then losing the Divisional Game. That was Jeff Garcia for the Eagles who took over for Mcnabb in 2006. Oh Jeff Hosteiler for the Giants in 1991. Both of those QB's had mobility and was able to run not sure if that is the case with the Raiders backup QB.
