Doug Williams didn't do too bad in '87, either.

The thing is.. Most times, a good playoff backup is a former starter who was at least mildly successful. Hostetler hadn't started regularly (He did start at least one game in place of Simms and did mop up duty) but Williams and Garcia were veterans.

Right, DUH! LOL

How could I forget Doug Williams in 1987 and went on a winning streak with wins at Chicago and back home in Washington. Then beat down Denver in the SB to win it all.

The Williams won the starting job the next season and couldn't do anything lol

we still havent seen much of conner cook, who is at least as good as dak prescott. so dont count the raiders out just yet.
