Too bad Oregon already filled its vacancy, should've waited 3 extra weeks. Think they'd like to have him back there??

If not as coach, Kelly could be hired in some other team capacity (such as assistant AD, analyst, or overseer of practice squad).

Interesting move to fire him this quickly but as long as the GM goes along with him it makes more sense.

We're winning, I've read Kelly may not really be fired, yet??? I wonder if he's coaching the game of a lifetime for his job? I can't see the game on the east coast. Of course Keap always chokes in the 2nd half.

I read that, too. Once the news broke, Kelly called York and supposedly wasn't a warm and fuzzy conversation. Odds might be he is done.

Reports: Chip Kelly to be fired by 49ers | ProFootballTalk
The 49ers' dismal showing this season makes Kelly vulnerable for dismissal. The difference after this season is general manager Trent Baalke being fired.

I do not think Kelly was the best candidate to be the 49ers' head coach going into the 2016 season. The 49ers should have sought a more experienced National Football League head coach.

Well they thought they had a good coach since he had 26 wins in 3 seasons with the eagles. Those numbers is what got him hired as their coach.

The 49ers will need to look beyond numbers for their next head coach as, reported within several minutes ago, Chip Kelly has been fired.

But coaches are hired based on their previous accomplishments with other teams and they thought they had their man since Chip had 27 wins in 3 seasons with one playoff appearance. It looked like a good hire to many people when he first got the job.

Only the 49ers can speak for themselves on past decisions.
