True but i think that was just an anomaly.. next year will probably be different and have many more great games!

This is reminding me more and more of the 1984 season when Dan Marino obliterated the previous NFL records for TDs with 48 and for passing yards with 5,084 - the previous records were 36 TDs (Blanda 1961, Tittle 1963) and 4,802 yards (Fouts 1981). But the 49ers beat the Dolphins easily, 38-16.

The Falcons will win easily because they are clearly the better team.

Super Bowl 51: 39-20, Falcons over the Patriots
Super Bowl 19: 38-16, 49ers beat the Dolphins
Yep that 27th ranked defense CLEARLY makes them the better team....along with that 11-5 record

Not to mention an inferior ST unit...

Pats win because they are CLEARLY the better, more complete, more well rounded TEAM...not to mention GOAT at QB and GOAT at head coach..

This reminds me of other SB's where an unstoppable Offense was supposedly going to blow out the team even though the other team had the BETTER DEFENSE

Like Denver vs Seattle in 2013...that one worked out well for Peyton

Pats vs Giants 2007....that one didn't work out too well for the Pats

St Louis vs Pats 2001.....Greatest Show on Turf....couldn't be stopped...until they were

Buffalo vs every team they faced....every version was supposedly unstoppable

Pats 40-Falcons 16

The only thing prolific is your ability to type. I quoted this so it's easier to find on the 5th.

I'm pulling for Atlanta due to having deep ties to the area and they've been my #2 team for some time. I normally root for the Patriots in the Super Bowl though because I'm a big fan of Tom Brady.

I think Atlanta's offense will be hard to slow down and it will probably be a shoot out. I'm not sure New England's offense is built to withstand a prolonged shoot out though and in that scenario I see Atlanta prevailing.

New England wins if they are able to disrupt the Falcons' offense and keep the game (relatively) lower scoring.

Regarding Atlanta's defense, they are playing well. Tom Brady may very well be the GOAT QB but I find Atlanta's performance against Seattle very impressive considering the fact that Russell practices against that type defense and knows how to beat it. That's proof that ATL's defense is peaking. They had to face two very lethal QBs and passed the test. This Falcons offense can certainly keep up with New England's offense. Julio is not a soft receiver...he will definitely dish it out if NE tries to get physical with him.

Atlanta's best DEFENSE is their offense. They were able score early and often vs both the Seahawks and Packers which put pressure on those 2 offenses to keep up and they cracked.. made mistakes.. I think Atlanta defense is playing well, they got pressure on Rodgers with 4 men rushing, something the Cowboys could not do.. but they can't win a slugfest with the Patriots.. 17-14.. IMO.. They need to put up 35 or more and make the Patriots keep up.. same formula they used against the Pack and Seahawks..

^^ I'm certainly aware of that. They are playing well enough to be considered competent now. That's what I'm implying. By keeping up, I'm saying that ATL can put points up on NE. The Defense just needs about 2 or 3 stops and the Falcons will be fine.

Agree, all the remarks about how bad the Falcons defense is (ranked 27th) or whatever is silly.. as if the Falcons or any team this late in the season is playing at the same level they were in week 8.. If you can't look at this Falcons team and realize their defense is better today than they were at week 1, week 8 or at any time during the regular season well then, your not paying attention.

Point is, no team stays put.. you either get better over the course of a season or you get worse.. few stay the same and any team that makes it to the Super Bowl, especially a team that NO ONE predicted would make it to SUPER SUNDAY at ANY POINT during the season surely has improved along the way... so to conclude that the Falcons will lose merely because their defense was ranked very low during the regular season obviously DUMB...

Still, i think the Patriots will win because they are the better team with the better defense, better coach and better QB. Doesn't guarantee a win, but smart money has to be on the Patriots.

(For what it's worth...)

Offense (4th) - Rushing 117.0 (7th) - Passing 269.2 (4th)
Defense (8th) - Rushing 88.6 (3rd) - Passing 237.9 (12th)

Offense (2nd) - Rushing 120.5 (5th) - Passing 295.3 (3rd)
Defense (25th) - Rushing 104.5 (17th) - Passing 266.7 (28th)

and the Lombardi goes to...

The key is holding Atlanta under 30, they are 1-4 this season when the opponent controls the clock, the ball, forces them to slow down. 1-4 if they can't hit 30...

Smart money is on Belichick with 2 weeks to prep for supposedly Greatest Show On Turf 2.0. Lock? Of course not, but this is more than doable. Atlanta played a bunch of either bad or injured defense the last two months. The New England Patriots defense is neither bad nor injured. As someone else daid, Falcons best defense is their offense. Punish that Falcons D with ball control and force that offense to play a fully healthy Pats D that can match up with them fairly well (not great, but Pats can match up better than most)...you give Belichick two weeks prep, he's gonna figure out a way to scheme for that offense...

Good luck to Atlanta...
