I think baseball and basketball OT is more equal to the teams.

Why is the NFL in such a hurry to finish OT? Its not like people are going to turn off the TV cause its Too late at night or the Players have next week to get ready for. Just let the other team touch the ball!

"Sudden Death", the name itself is dramatic. Up there with a walk off run. I suppose some baseball fan, will one day post that the visiting team get one more chance to tie. After all why should you get an advantage because you are playing at home?

Pretty sure Captain America and Belichick willed that coin flip to their favor. What's left to say, it's B&B and a long way to the next guys.

In baseball, both teams have a chance.

The home team advantage is (among other things like familiarity with the field) that they know exactly how many runs they need to score.
The visiting team can play to increase their probability of scoring 1 run, while decreasing their chance of scoring multiple runs (a sac bunt, for example) but still lose if the home team hits a 2 run home run.

But they had their chance. New Englad ran what 10 plays on that final drive? Atlanta had plenty of chances to keep them from scoring a TD, including makng an interception in the end zone. Instead Beasley chose to knock it away instead of catching it. Defense and special teams are part of the game too.

I wanted Atlanta to win but the fact New England had to move the ball the length of the field and cross the goal line is OK.

I would have been upset if the old rules of sudden death prevailed and just moving into field goal range was all the New England offense had to do.

Absolutely.

The updated rule of having to score a TD on the first drive in order to end OT (and the game) is a much better one than just having a FG split the uprights. It's a much better sudden death method.

But the visiting team didn't get a chance if the Homers scored. Not fair boo hoo.
