Broncos LB Brandon Marshall knelt during the anthem last year and he's still playing. The bottom line is Colin Kaepernick is unemployed because NFL types don't think he's an upper echelon quarterback. Talent can overcome a lot of things - just look at Jay Cutler.
There's no incentive for players to strike. How would it be determined which team would sign Kaepernick? Do we know what kind of a deal he's seeking? Aside from the PR disaster his salary demands could be an issue. He'll turn up somewhere: AFL, CFL or NFL later in the season when injuries take their toll. Some people are creating a stink about Miami without acknowledging that Cutler, despite his flaws, is a better QB and already has a relationship with the coaching staff.
there have been 8 nfl strikes and nobody was cut. try again.

Kaepernick is a distraction. The question is if there's a team where the need for a quarterback outweighs the distraction variable.
As of right now there isn't.
NBP is right, every time the players have gone on strike, they have done so to force the owners to the table for contract issues.
but even the contracts in question did not force the owners to give no cut contacts to every player regardless of how good or bad they were. if the players union tried that, then EVERY player would be cut from the teams, thus essentially killing the players union, and new players would be hired in their place. also chances are good that the season would be canceled as well while the owners built new teams.
Sounds like we're going for three locked-down threads in a row?
There's good reason for it. The Kaepernick subject is in the passing lane, getting ready to blow past Tim Tebow in the "how many threads get created on one subject that eventually have to get locked" contest. Two threads got locked yesterday, two threads got locked last month. And several others over the last couple years.
I get the criticism, I do. But reports come in on this subject by long time pro football sub forum posters and they have cried UNCLE on this subject. They're right.
I'm going to lock this for a day or two, let people cool off, edit the thread, and re-open it with the idea of commentary zeroing in on Kaepernick's skillset--reading defenses, relationship with coaches, his college career with Nevada-Reno, etc.
No more threads! No. Nope. Uh-uh. Negatory. Otherwise they will go *POOF!*
ADD-----please do not start any more Kaepernick threads. See the above sentence that ends with the word *POOF!*
This one will re-open tomorrow night-late. I have a couple more comments regarding the reason coming up then.
