Chiefs played a fantastic game last night. I never close myself off to any outcome in the NFL but as I stated I didn't expect the Chiefs to even be in this game. They straight up outplayed the Pats.

I'm already hearing the overreactions about Brady and the Pats too. Laughable. It's week 1 and stuff like this happens a lot in week 1.

The Chiefs have a good team on both sides of the ball and they were ready. Glad Smith had the best game of his career. Pats were caught off guard, playing at home, started off o.k. then went kind of flat, defense didn't look great.

The Cat starts off the season at 0-1. Not quite as planned but still hoping to get to see some games this weekend.

True. But if we want to try to find some reasons why they may struggle there are some there. Watching the Pats defense I was mostly like "who are these guys?" with regards to their front seven. A lot of new players in the front seven. If Amendola and Hightower are out for an extended period they could struggle until those guys get back.

Up next is the Saints. Could the Pats be forced to score 30-35+ again to win? And assuming no Amendola that could be a challenge even against a defense that is not as good on paper as the Chiefs defense was.

Chiefs have a good secondary. No pass rush against the Pats, but it wasn't necessary. I can't say the same for the Saints pass rush or secondary. The Pats will likely be short their (2) slot receivers Amendola (concussion protocol) and Edelman (season ending injury), and they don't have a next man up to take those receptions up the middle. Does make it easier to cover Cooks and Hogan.

Cooks looked good. Hogan was either overthrown or just draped. Same can be said for Gronk. Having elite slot receivers in Edelman and Amendola really open up the Pats offense. Hogan will likely remain a deep threat, but Cooks' routes will have to be altered going forward. Any chance of moving White to a more slot receiver role and using a hybrid backfield of White, Gillisee, Burkhead, Lewis? White has the hands and could be good fill in if Amendola has to miss some games.

White has to be involved more is some sort of fashion as a receiver. Other option is the Pats try to become more of a running team at least until Amendola can return?

Personally, I think the Pats are so compromised they would throw the game if the Vegas bookies told them to. I'm sure it made them a lot of money and won't hurt the Pats much. Or maybe they just DIDN'T cheat?

The last time the Pats have not had, at least, a share of first place in the AFC East is when?

They've lost week 1 before. 2014. Also started 1-2 and 3-3 in 2012.

I think in 2014 they were 1-3 after week 4.
