I know Greg Jennings hasn't announced much, but Romo is way better than Jennings!

Romo has been great so far this year. He's called a few Patriots games so I have been able to hear him over the course of several games. A nice breath of fresh air in the booth for CBS as it seems like they hit a home run bringing Tony in.

I agree, I know some don't like the detail, but I do. I've been watching football a long time (older) and I appreciate his take on what the QB is seeing, how the defense lines up, smart dude and he doesn't mess up. One would expect some mistakes but I listened to some of his first games, was very pleasantly surprised.

Yep - His voice is lacking certain announcer qualities but his analysis is spot on and he seems to be enjoying himself which is refreshing.

I dunno, Jonny.

Since Romo is still in his inaugural year, a rookie booth guy might only be a few city blocks ahead of his veteran predecessor. But miles? Hmmm...

I gave him a 5. I too, think eventually he will be ok to good, but right now there are 2 problems hubby and I in our opinion. He is way to partial and he has to understand he isn't playing anymore. He announces as if he was the quarterback calling the plays. Of course I am thinking Troy may have been the same, I don't remember and he is a great announcer we think.

susancruzs: I have been watching football for probably 50 or more years. I totally disagree with you. I do not need to know every line up, where the ball should be thrown or who should be running with it and who made what mistake.

sounds to me like you might be a loyal Cowboys fan who thinks any Dallas player now or in the past is above the rest.

Bringing it up to date, Romo has gotten better and better as a commentator. I am looking forward to listening him in the Super Bowl; he's quite proven to be a worthy successor to Phil Simms when it comes to working with Jim Nantz
