My interest in the NFL is down and will likely never be as high as it once was... the political drama that now surrounds the pregame certainly effects that some but for me i am just tired of the 24/7/365 NFL. I miss the days of anticipating the preseason games and watching an hour of NFL Gameday on ESPN during the opening week. That was some of the best times but unfortunately those days are gone. They have diluted the product with constant coverage 365 days a year. The political drama gives me an excuse to not watch as much vs simply saying, i am tired of watching it.. its just not as much fun as it used to be...

I will still keep up with my team and hope they do well. But i have yet to watch a full game this year of any team.

Usually they don't even show the National Anthem with the exception of the first game of the season or the Super Bowl. I suppose they're going to show it every week now just so we can see who's protesting? It's so dumb. I just watch the NFL for the football (and the cheerleaders.)

Unless Trump opens his mouth again, i expect this to die down again except for a handful of players silently taking a knee and all will be forgotten like normally happens in the 24-hr news cycle. Networks barely even mention Charlottesville anymore, do they?

Well, this has been going on since last season when Kaepernick started it, so, I think it will take a while for it to die down.

it had died down - less than 8 players out of 1500+ players were kneeling and rarely got noticed....until the Trump speech.

Exactly. No one was paying attention until our Idiot in Chief put himself into it and called Americans using their 1st Amendment rights to peacefully protest SOB's.

And now Trump has pushed the NFL into a corner. They have to totally shut down the protests involving the National Anthem or face continued loss of fan base, and income. If you are on the side of the Anthem, Flag and National pride you are on the precipice of a big win.

None of his temper tantrum tactics of boycotting have been successful at all. Remember the "failing New York Times"? Their subscriptions are at record highs.

Whenever Trump says not to participate in something, it seems like more people participate in it than ever before. This is going to be great for the NFL, like it or not.
