Week 5: 10-4
Season: 45-32

Bye week
Buffalo Bills (3-2; first, AFC East)
Cincinnati Bengals (2-3; third, AFC North)
Dallas Cowboys (2-3; third, NFC East)
Seattle Seahawks (3-2; first, NFC West)

Philadelphia Eagles (4-1) at Carolina Panthers (4-1)

Chicago Bears (1-4) at Baltimore Ravens (3-2)

Cleveland Browns (0-5) at Houston Texans (2-3)

Green Bay Packers (4-1) at Minnesota Vikings (3-2)

Detroit Lions (3-2) at New Orleans Saints (2-2)

Miami Dolphins (2-2) at Atlanta Falcons (3-1)

New England Patriots (3-2) at New York Jets (3-2)

San Francisco 49ers (0-5) at Washington Redskins (2-2)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-2) at Arizona Cardinals (2-3)

Los Angeles Rams (3-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2)

Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) at Kansas City Chiefs (5-0)

The Steelers picked the wrong week to lose. Congratulations to Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers for killing off their brain cells in the 30-9 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Steelers' stupidity may catch up with them with another loss against the Chiefs.

Los Angeles Chargers (1-4) at Oakland Raiders (2-3)

The Chargers pulled off a surprise win against the New York Giants.

I initially thought the Raiders would take a step back with Derek Carr out of the lineup with an injury. The Raiders can rebound against underachiever Philip Rivers and the lowly Chargers.

New York Giants (0-5) at Denver Broncos (3-1)

The New York Giants picked another wrong week to lose. Congratulations to Eli Manning, Odell Beckham Jr., and the Giants for killing off their brain cells against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Indianapolis Colts (2-3) at Tennessee Titans (2-3)

I was initially inclined to pick the Colts. The power is stronger with the Titans.

I had one good week but for the most part my picks have been a disaster this year:

Week 1: 9-6
Week 2: 13-3
Week 3: 7-9
Week 4: 10-6
Week 5: 7-7
Total: 46-31

So on to week 6 where I will no doubt break out and jump ahead of all others in the pack. Or have another ho-hum week. Or bottom out completely. (I think that covers all the possibilities.)

My picks:

Eagles @ Panthers: Panthers
Bears @ Ravens: Ravens
Browns @ Texans: Texans (Tough loss for the Texans, both the game itself and the players lost to injury. A date with the Browns may be just the "pick me up" this team needs right now.)
Packers @ Vikings: Packers
Lions @ Saints: Saints
Dolphins @ Falcons: Falcons
Patriots @ Jets: Patriots
49ers @ Redskins: Redskins
Buccaneers @ Cardinals: Buccaneers
Rams @ Jaguars: Jaguars
Steelers @ Chiefs: Chiefs (Hard to pick against the Chiefs right now but after the way the Steelers got worked you know they're going to bring a more focussed effort into this one. At the same time the Chiefs may have had this game circled since the schedule came out with the way the Steelers gave the Chiefs and early escort out of the playoffs last season.)
Chargers @ Raiders: Chargers
Giants @ Broncos: Broncos (all indicators suggest the Broncos should win this one running away and that has me nervous.)
Colts @ Titans: Titans

Good luck everyone and enjoy week 6! Go Broncos!

Overall Record: 48-29

This seems like a pretty straightforward week, so that probably means I'll go 6-8.

Eagles @ Panthers-The only one who will be flying on Thursday Night Football will be Superman, but the Eagles will still cruise to the NFC Least crown.

Bears @ Ravens-Da Bears sure are throwing Trubisky into the lion's den. Last week it was purple reign and now he's going up against a Ravens defense that can be tough. Ravens offense actually showed signs of life last week, so I feel safe taking them here.

Browns @ Texans-It bears repeating. I love this DeShaun Watson kid. Yeah, they're having trouble getting wins and it'll be even harder with Watt out for the season, but the Browns are the best in the league at losing football games. Even my dumpster-fire 49ers have won 2 games over the last 2 seasons.

Packers @ Vikings-I love seeing the Packers win every week and hope Rodgers and company continue rolling in this intense rivalry game. Viqueens simply don't have the offense to compete with Green Bay, but they should keep it close at home.

Lions @ Saints-I'll stick with my picking rule of not taking the Lions on the road. Saints are coming off a bye week and I expect Brees to outduel Stafford in this potential shootout.

Dolphins @ Falcons-I promised myself I would keep picking the Falcons. It bit me against the Bills, but I'm fairly confident they can handle the finskies.

Patriots @ Jets-Jets have far passed my expectations for them this season. I didn't think they'd win 3 games all season, let alone 3 games in a row. However, it all comes to a screeching halt as a well-rested Tom Brady and a well-prepared Bill Belichick (after a 10-day layoff) come to the Meadowlands to deliver a woodshed beating. Yeah, the Jets usually play the Pats tough, but I have a feeling the Pats are angry about how their season is going and will take their frustration out in this game.

49ers @ Redskins-What a gift for Cousins and company coming off a bye week. Everyone loves it when my pathetic 49ers come to town. It's a guaranteed win.

Buccaneers @ Cardinals-The cardiac Cards and Carson Palmer smoke a Winston!

Rams @ Jaguars-Whenever there are 2 Jekyll and Hyde teams I can't figure out playing each other, I just go with the home team. Will the real Blake Bortles and Jared Goff please stand up?

Steelers @ Chiefs-That loss to the Jags at Heinz was a real headscratcher. Going into Arrowhead and playing the undefeated Chiefs is no easy task. Chiefs just keep finding ways to win. That's a sign of a good football team. Hats off to Andy Reid.

Chargers @ Raiders-It's the same old story. Chargers should win this and will be in prime position to do so, but something weird will happen that will allow the Raiders to escape with an ugly victory.

Giants @ Broncos-It's really hard to pick the 0-5 Giants against anyone right now. I can't see them getting their first win in Denver who are really tough at home and coming off a bye week.

Colts @ Titans-This should be an easy win. Remember the Titans are a much better football team with a real quarterback under center. It sounds like Mariota is going to return for this one while the Colts still won't have Luck on their side.

So true! That is what I fully expect to happen as well!
