Maybe I'm being optimistic but I think Jones is seriously worried about the power and thought process of a commissioner who would suspend someone without them even being tried by the court and a question of character by the accuser.

Personal feelings aside, I think Jones, indirectly, is trying to protect the league from a tyrant with a God complex.
Not to open the whole "deflategate" can of worms.....but let's get real...there was never ANY evidence of "wrongdoing" unless we just throw out the whole Ideal Gas Law. Even if one allows there "was a crime" there was ZERO evidence, nada, zilch that Brady had anything to do with it....

Lets also remember that Brady missed 4 games for a few ounces of air pressure in game balls.....again AIR PRESSURE IN FOOTBALLS

Elliot is being punished for BEATING A WOMAN......and though he may not have been "charged" there was a lot more "evidence" that Zeke DID what he is being punished for....

If people haven't looked at the evidence the NFL reviewed when punishing Elliot they really need to look closely...

Lets not equate air pressure in footballs to domestic violence....not even in the same stratosphere of wrongdoing

Based on the St Patrick's Day incident alone it is pretty clear that Elliot is a first class creep....

All that being said, I agree with TAM. Zero support for Jones.

Jones supported the commissioner whole heartedly when he gave Brady and the Pats the shaft over the nonsense that was "deflategate" but NOW the commissioner has to go because "his guy" is getting suspended for much more egregious crimes??

Cry me a river Jerry...

I think Jones is holding the Cowboys back from performing even better than they have. I don't want the Cowboys to be good, so I hope Jones stays as their owner forever & ever.

Even on domestic violence, Goodell has shown he has no clue what he is doing. Last year, Kicker Josh Brown was only suspended one game after he ADMITTED he beat his wife up over 20 times. Yeah, Brown got the 6 games simply for show before suspending Elliott.

Elliott may be an idiot but he is getting the raw deal of an incompetent commissioner with a vengenance towards Jones IMO.

I don't think any Patriots fan would ever support Goodell, he is absolutely incompetent especially when it comes to player discipline, domestic violence and the concussion issue...

BUT

I highly doubt the punishment for Elliott was in any way, shape or form an act of "vengeance" towards Jones...

Vengeance for what?

Was it an act of "vengeance" towards Kraft when he suspended Brady and took draft picks with zero evidence of wrongdoing???

I still think it is wonderful karma however that one of Goodell's biggest supporters when he was dropping the hammer on the Patriots is now on the other side of the punishment issue....
