I'm neither a super fan nor a fantasy football player so all that talk is dead time for me. I also FF through the insipid half-time show which is 15 minutes of dead time where you get 9 minutes of ads and 6 minutes of 5 guys all trying to make a point with insufficient time to do so. In the span of 90 minutes I can see an entire game, which I did this last weekend. I pay attention to the time bar at the bottom of the screen; most "timeouts" are 2.5 minutes of ads, and there are lots of them during a game.

PS: Much the same is true for watching baseball....
I do exactly the same thing. I can't justify sitting in front of the the TV for 6 or 7 hours watching two games. The past Sunday was a beautiful day outside. I started watching the first game as darkness fell and caught up right about time the second game was ending.

The only exception is the SuperBowl, since being more of an event, typically is watched with family and friends. (Still skip the halftime show though!).

I think cutting down on TV breaks will do a whole lot of good for the sport in terms of growing the game, especially in the international market!

No $ to expand internationally without funding—erm sponsorship to supplement NFL costs. Ergo the Ads to encourage their contribution to the NFL. It's a partnership after all.

I get Ads can get annoying, but we have to remember why they exist in the first place.

Ads you can understand, that's how it works. It's the ridiculous amount now. It's definitely gotten out of hand and making the product less tolerable to watch.

It appears that the XFL may be something you will like once it starts playing again. They are planning on putting a faster and shorter game on the field.
