To native southerners anybody from north of the Mason-Dixon (or the Red River if you're in Texas) is pejoratively referred to as a Yankee.
I've lived in the South. I know that. We fought and died in the Yankee, Pennamite Wars. I'm not from New England. That line should have been further North.

Interesting you mention that. A bit of thread creep, I know, but a large swath of PA, mostly central PA, seems southern to me. They don't call if Pennsyltucky for no reason.
Back in the '80s I could not stand the Cowboys! They had their own dynasty under Jimmy Johnson and I was so jealous!
The first time I went to Texas, one of the first things I did was go to the Cowboys sports shop wearing my Patriots 2001 SB CHAMPS hat and tee shirt! I wanted to rub it in and walked all around that mall. I even sent postcards back home of Dallas Stadium to get my peeps' blood boiling. Lol. So I understand the hate people have for us. I just laugh. Like I said, jealousy is ugly. Been there, done that.
I just saw my ill-advised bandwagon Vikes get trounced by Nick Foles and the Eagles freight train, and if I may be so bold... I will now wholeheartedly support Philadelphia in Super Bowl LII!
Go, Eagles! Soar, Eagles! Fly, Eagles, FLY... Beat the Patriots!
