The NFL will be meeting in the next couple of weeks and a big topic being mentioned is that the el8mination of kickoffs are being considered. A new study released shows that concussions are 5x more likely to occur on kickoffs then other plays. I was wondering how everyone felt about the possibility of this exciting play that has been around since the 19th century was eliminated. No fighting, just wanna hear how other people feel...

Might as well. What's the number of kickoffs that are run back now? Maybe 10-15%?.

Maybe they should move the ball back 10 yards and have everyone wear a belt with a flag on it for the kickoffs so no one gets hurt. Or maybe each team can pick 11 fans from the seats and they can wear flags for the kickoffs after signing a book full of liability waivers.

Everyone knows that the players have never been properly warned that they could get hurt playing football. If they had, you know they would never play the game.

The powers that be won't be happy until the sport is so neutered that it barely resembles what it used to be.

I wouldn't describe kickoffs as "exciting" as most are anti-climactic affairs. I have a neutral stance. One positive, though, would be less downtime.

this could hurt the revenue stream because there would be no commercial break after we get a chance to watch another kickoff sail out of the endzone

Against. By eliminating kickoffs, you are eliminating a sect of players who aren’t talented enough for regular playing time from scrimmage but are good enough to carve out a spot thanks to special teams. I look at my HS’s most famous NFL player, Keith Burns as someone who was not known as a starting linebacker but his special teams play helped him carve out a decade plus career in the NFL.

yep, may as well just finish the job and change the name of the NFL to the NFFL(national flag football league), and be done with it.

I don't know. Flag football sounds a bit dangerous to me.
