That was because a lot of the media jumped on the story and didn't get their facts straight before publishing stories with dramatic headlines as usual.

Am watching the Orlando/Salt Lake City game. Not much for attendance but there is reason for it. Snowing-and snowing-and snowing. Two minute warning-looks like the snow finally stopped.

Interesting comments by Orlando coach Steve Spurrier. I'll bet it's been a while since he stood on a field with 6 inches of snow!

Attendance numbers.. And finally a site is putting them all together.

https://www.nfldraftdiamonds.com/201...attendance-15/

That.. Looks very, very bad.

Birmingham, who last week I put up there as a site with 'good' attendance, pulled a record low 6500 fans.

SLC and Arizona continue with their poor numbers, while Memphis had a minor boost towards respectability (Which I say is 15000 fans)

As it stands.. San Antonio and Orlando are the only ones who seem to be making a go of it.

Attendance-wise, what does this say for the imminent debut of the XFL? There doesnt appear to be enough fans to support one spring league, much less two...

And baseball hasnt even begun in earnest yet...

I wouldn't necessarily call a year 'imminent'.. However.. Remember this.. Average attendance at XFL games was 23,410 back in 2001. Admittedly.. No way of knowing how much of that was paid.

But it does not bode well.. I certainly think the AAF is putting out a better product than the XFL1 did, and they're struggling mightily. I suspect the XFL will do worse. Factoring in that they have no players.. Will be pulling what amounts to AA-level talent (Since AAF has exclusivity for the AAA talent by nature of hitting the field first)..

I was high on the XFL's return until the AAF beat them by a year. Now, seeing how the AAF is doing.. I give no chance to the XFL2.

at some point even the most avid fan of a sport gets burnout. remember that arena football built a decent following for a few years, then their attendance declined, the CFL was the same way. for a while you couldnt find a TV station that didnt carry a CFL game, then they fell into obscurity as well, to the point where CFL games might show up on TV in america if some sports channel needs a filler. and even the NFL goes through cycles of popularity.

as i said i am not going to judge AAF on the basis of one season, get back with me on how well i think they are doing after three seasons as that will be telling.

You can't succeed when you have fan burnout in your first year.
