Why on Earth would it be either dumb or disastrous?
The Raiders are a lame-duck team. Oakland, London, Duluth - where they play next year matters not one iota. Given the attendance of the London games, it makes sense. It also makes sense as a trial run for a London team, which would seem to be problematic. Travel, to some extent, will be an issue, but also convincing players to want to be based in Europe for six months. If the Raiders spend a season there it costs neither the league nor the team anything, and it could give the league as well as any owners who might be tempted to relocate across the pond some real-world evidence of how a franchise there would work, for better or worse. They're spurning Oakland anyway, so the loss of a season in Oakland means nothing.
Whenever people don't like something they insist that it's 'bad for the league' but there's a huge difference between what a particular fan dislikes and what is objectively bad for the NFL. People need to realize that, and that it's not all about only them.

It is an absolute disaster to have the Raiders play their home game in London because American football isn't popular worldwide
How does that work for the Raiders? Division game in LA against the Chargers... Next week a home division game versus the Chiefs... Next week on the road against Denver...
Explain how that travel schedule benefits the Raiders if they are in London?

NFL needs to abandon this Oakland football experiment

Not saying the Raiders of all teams make sense in London. But, if it is just one year then I don’t see it as a big deal. As for the schedule, I would have to think the NFL would give a team in London 4-5 straight home games and 4-5 straight road games to make the traveling easier. They would probably play three straight road division games.
I still think either playing at Bulldog stadium in Fresno or at UNLV for one year makes the most sense. Pretty sure Fresno could handle NFL games but not sure about UNLV stadium.
