i think they would have, remember who the offensive coordinator was back then, compared to today.

You are comparing Jason Garrett and his years of mediocrity to Jimmy Johnson and his years of success in college and the pros.

I'm not buying that one.

Are we comparing offensive lines as well? They played a part in the success from the 90s.

Hard to say but remember Switzer won 1... but you have to remember, Jimmy build the team around the triplets and they were as instrumental as the triplets were to winning those 3 SBs., could Jason build that kind of team? I dunno....

I am confident Jason could have taken Jimmy's team, as Barry did, and won a SB... i just don't know if he could build the team with the discipline, drive and the culture that Jimmy built... I don't see it in the 2018 Cowboys.. i see a good team, good effort but missing something that i simply can't put my finger on...

Switzer was running on Johnson's fumes. Notice that he was not able to sustain the success. Garrett probably would have won the following year if he succeeded Johnson. I could have won. Johnson was top notch. Jones' ego would not allow them to co-exist. Otherwise they probably would have been like the Pats today.

Another question... who is Moose Johnston today?

Perhaps. Let's see how they look next year since Cooper is new.

Cowboys have some young pieces on defense that could be great for years to come. So that could help. But what happens when they have to pay their three star offensive players, their offensive lineman, and guys like Vander Esch, Jalen Smith and Lawrence?

Michael 'puffing the wares' of his former team. I suppose than sentiment would be natural.

I think Aikman/Irvin/Smith compared individually and as a group are better at their positions than Prescott/Cooper/Elliott.

I don't believe that coaching or O-Lines between the two eras make the difference. I think on raw talent that older group were simply better and more consistent players.

No. Until Jerry Jones realizes he does not know how to run a football team from a personnel standpoint and hires a competent person to do so, Dallas will not win anything. He ran Jimmy Johnson out of town and as a result, Dallas has not won a Super Bowl, played in a Super Bowl or even played in a conference championship game for 23 years and counting. 4 playoff wins in the last 23 seasons speaks for itself.

Dallas is also very one dimensional on offense. You take Zeke out things and Dak is not good enough to consistently win games for Dallas.

Jerry is no better/worse at picking players as the next GM.. he has some HOF picks and some duds as does every GM.. his biggest weakness is the HC.. he already proved he could not work with a head strong hands on HC like Jimmy and outside of Parcells, has basically hired yes men. I certainly was not against the Garrett hire way back when because i think young coordinators deserve a shot and you never know who might be the next diamond in the rough but it doesn't take long to weed out the good coaches, great coaches and bad coaches. For my money, Garrett would have been fired long ago because he has never proven to be a great coach, he's been a good coach but not a great coach and i think you need a great coach to win SBs in the NFL. Sure, you could land a sweet gig like Switzer did and back into a SB but you can't build a SB team nor maintain a SB team with just an OK or good coach.. there has to be some greatness there and i don't see that from Garrett and to be honest, i am tired of waiting..
