Usually the SB winning team kicks off the season but Pats game will be Sunday night. Rumor has been going around for awhile about the Packers and Bears to kick off the 100th season.

The Bears will host the Packers in an NFC North showdown at 8:20 p.m. EST on Sept. 5 on NBC to begin the NFL's 100th season. The reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots will also host the Sunday Night Football Week 1 contest against a team to be determined.

Makes sense. Nothing is better than Bears vs Packers. The 199th meeting between these two with the 200th meeting at Lambeau! Packers lead the overall series at 97-95-6

It does, but not to everyone. Reading some comments after articles, fans are complaining. It isn't like the SB winner getting the opening game has been forever, started in 2004.

I was thinking the Pats (SB winners) were gonna start it off but this is a good choice.

As a Pats fan I can't disagree with this. Two legendary old school teams to open the 100th season. Pats only started in 1960, so despite recent dominance there is much more history to the game than the Patriots.

I love the idea. The up and coming Bears against the Packers who are out to prove something after a disappointing year. I cannot wait to see Trubisky with two years in the same system and the same with Khalil Mack.

Good timing to push Kraft out of the first game.

Rumor is that NE will get the opening SNF game hosting the up and coming Cleveland Browns!

That will be great game and will have many more eyeballs watching than TNF.

Probably, doesn't matter who watches what game, don't care! Being a Packer fan, the Bears and Packers rivalry is a big deal, teams have been around since the beginning, so why not!
