It seems that the history of the NFL is littered with high draft picks who, for whatever reason, just don't pan out. And, occasionally, low picks who exceed all expectations. Going back to, say, 1979 (40 years) is there any one team who has had more success with finding gems in the later rounds than other teams?

I doubt it over that long of a time period everything will come back to the mean. Many great UDFA’s as well.

I don't think he meant one team that has beaten the odds for the entire past 40 years.....

Considering the turnover in GM's, coaching staffs and even ownership over that period of time it wouldn't even be possible other than by some weird dumb luck....

New England may or may not be the right answer but they have had the most stability in the GM/coaching department of any team in the NFL for 20 of the past 40 years....

New England has certainly had its share of late round finds including the GOAT at 199....

Haven't really researched it but off the top of my head I bet Seattle and Baltimore are up there which again goes back to stability over the past decade or more...

For two decades now New England has built their dynasty with part 1st rounders panning out and a slew of later rounders who Bill properly utilizes. Brady doesn't count as he's a generational player. Forget individual players across the league. The Patriots have been the obvious best at mixing the draft with trades to keep the team playing at an elite level.
