I saw the Saints game tonight....I think we will be able to handle them come time
That looked like the Tennessee vs Pittsburgh game last year!... only last years game was better! Sense when have the Saints won such a low scoring game? I think that was the closest fight that they have won... ever. If I'm not mistaken.
No way in hell Spaeth starts. Not even for the Bengals who'll be starting a rookie this year at TE. Would he start for the Chargers over Gates? For the Falcons over Gonzalez? For the Colts over Clark? For the Niners over Davis? For the Packers over Finley? For the Saints over Shockey? For the Bucs over Winslow? He had a whopping 5 catches last year. I don't care who your TE is, your #2 TE should have more than that especially since many teams run multiple TE sets.
Heath Miller who is starting for us is probably the best all aound TE in the league when you count his catches, and lead blocking for RB's and receivers. When Spaeth steps in he shows why he is on our team. The guy has great hands and is a favorite target of Ben's when he is in too. When Limas Swede was playing, you notice Ben didn't throw to him much even when he was burning past the DB's. Ever wonder why? Dropped passes hurt offenses and QB numbers. They also hurt your win total most of the time.
I stand by exactly what I said before. If you get a chance to see Spaeth play instead of reading stats on a piece of paper, you too would believe. The other names you metioned are solid but he WOULD start over a few of them. It's very easy to dismiss a part time player when you don't know much about him. I'm sure this year you'll take the time to check in to see what the guy can do.

Speath has had great catches, especially the one against Chicago last year, was a play of beauty, and every one who has seen it should agree or they do not know how practice makes perfect.
Unfortunately Dixon is what I expected so far with no TD passes. We should have went with the experience and played Batch. This is why I don't like Tomlin compared to "The Chin".
