Favre's numbers didn't get better when Thompson arrived. Lets clear up that misconception immediately. He went from a really good year in 2004 (over 4k yards, over 60% comp, 30 TD's, and 17 INTs) to his worst statistical year ever. It took 3 years for the team to recover from the dismantling of the 2004 Packers at the hands of Ted Thompson. The first year with Thompson they went 4-12. When was the last time the Packers had such a shameful year? The year before Brett Favre arrived in Green Bay.
So really last year the Packers made it back to where they had already been many times before Thompson ever set foot in Green Bay. I wouldn't be so quick to hand him the credit. I would give more credit to McCarthy and the Packers coming together mentally as a team.
But again, you are saying we should expect something along the lines of 3500 yards, 25+ TD's, and 12-15 INT's max from Rodgers this year. I hope you are right, but I'm not holding my breath.
Maybe in 04 his numbers were good but I think the 05 debacle was Sherman's player management showing up. I mean he moved up in the draft to take a punter who is no longer with the team, I still get mad thinking about that. I think Thompson has an eye for talent, though the Harrell pick makes me wonder sometimes, but I think he is a good GM. I hope I am right about Rodgers as well. I think he is going to come out and say I can play QB and put up some pretty good numbers, and more importantly wins.

Its always hard to judge qb's. Most qb's that look like they should do great in the NFL turn out to be total flops because the level of play is WAY higher than anything they ever faced in college, regardless of where they played college ball. Most college teams only a couple of players that make it to the NFL per year. Some more, some less. But overall, the majority of college players are not good enough to be in the NFL.
I'm holding my breath on Rodgers. He seems focused, he seems talented, and he seems to be a hard worker, all things that a qb needs to be successful. Its just that it doesn't always pan out, and I don't want the Packers to play Rodgers for 4-5 years if he is a bottom half qb, just because they made such a big deal about him being "the future". I mean really. Nobody though Brett Favre was the future when he showed up in 92. Football has a way of dealing a lot of unexpected surprises in players. Sometimes good, sometimes bad. I'm hoping Rodgers turns out good.
Also seeing the classless Packer fans who show up to Packers practice to boo Rodgers.
Yeah, I saw that too and have to agree with you. What they did was very rude. Rodgers does not deserve that, none of this is his fault and he's handled the whole situation very well. He's a class act.
