The Cowboy's have improved a lot since Garrett took over, but much of that improvement is because of the play of John Kitna. He's really stepped up and is handling the team very well.
Which set me to wondering....if Kitna feels up to a couple more years, maybe this would be a good time to make a permanent change at QB. They can still get something for Romo in a trade, draft a good college rookie and let him stand on the sidelines and learn from Kitna for a couple of years, then take over.
After all, Romo is good in the mechanics of playing the position, but he's not the leader he needs to be and never has been.

What do y'all think?
i don't want to take anything away from John Kitna's success as of late, but i would believe most of the Cowboy's success can be attributed to Jason Garrett.
when Romo gets better, he'll play...there's no doubt. what we are seeing right now in John Kitna is great play from a great back up qb, and there's nothing wrong with that!
Ex-'MNF' co-host 'Dandy' Don Meredith dies after brain hemorrhage - Local News - Tampa, FL - msnbc.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40531252 - broken link)
Wow, sad news. Dandy Don was a good QB and I really liked him on MNF. He had a great sense of humor and seemed to be a nice man as well. RIP Dandy Don, you will be missed.
Before Romo went down, I was sure Kitna was going to retire; now he looks like the perfect backup - but do you give him more years at his age?
as a backup, i'de give him a few more years...i know one thing, if i'm jerry jones, kitna is finishing his career a cowboy. i think a quality backup qb is highly underrated in the nfl these days.
stillkit's post is getting a lot of airplay, and I can give you my spin:
Trade Romo, go with Kitna and use the pick to draft a stud to sit under and learn from Kitna?
Who's to say that you don't have your youngster (with experience) on the bench already learning from Kit? Romo should come back with a better handle on the game, and benefit from Garrett Top's play calling, imo.
