Looks like a scene out of Brian's Song!!

The most uplifting aspect to the Indianapolis Colts' latest offseason work Thursday had little to do with the sunshine that warmed the practice field.

Colts' Mathis stays away from OTAs

Finding the money to re-sign quarterback Peyton Manning apparently isn't the Indianapolis Colts' only offseason concern........
Quote:
It's uncertain whether the Colts will consider renegotiating Mathis' deal. They are committed to making Manning the highest-paid player in NFL history this summer -- his contract expires at the end of the 2010 season -- and all contract issues regarding veterans might be on hold until Manning's situation is resolved
this is not good!!

Let's wait to see what happens once things are no longer voluntary. I don't think Mathis is going to walk away from over $4 million.

Bad news! Trouble in paradise!

Reggie Wayne is holding out........Antoine Bethea......Robert Mathis.......

They keep giving all the money to number 18! Peyton needs the money like I need a third foot! He'll never spend all the money he has! His endorsements alone pay more than the Colts! He pitches everything except baby powder!

All the great ones took a cut to keep the team around them. Tom Brady.....Michael Jordan!! And it paid off with more championships!

Peyton needs to tell Irsay to take care of his team first.

C'mon, citizen. Freeney got $30 million guaranteed. Sanders got $20 million and Hayden got over $20 million. I can't remember how much Clark got, but it was substantial -- the highest for his position. The Colts do pay players other than Peyton. But let's not forget that Peyton is the face of the franchise. Heck, some consider him the face of the league. He adds a lot of value to the Colts and the NFL, so he deserves to be compensated accordingly, right? I mean, you do present yourself as a capitalist in other forums, don't you?

What Peyton may get in his contract extension is speculation right now. We'll see. We also have to see how the labor situation and future cap rules shake out.

The Wayne holdout did come out of left field for me, I have to admit. There is a case to be made that he's outplayed his contract, and I imagine the Colts are amenable to giving him an extension, but it may have to wait until after Peyton's extension and the CBA are worked out. The Colts will surely want to see what/if any cap rules they'll have to operate under. So, Wayne will likely just have to suck it up and play under his current deal this season. Bethea has no choice but to sign his tender and play, unless he wants to leave over $2 million on the table. The chatter, though, is that the Colts are working to sign Bethea to a long-term deal. I think the Colts will tell Mathis to pound salt.

FYI.....nobody says ya'll around here, unless they're from Kentucky. It's "you guys."

Point is, we're still in the hunt. You're time is over.

Shouldn't you be working on your "Yankees suck" chant?

lmao.... I said ya'll because ... we because I can.

In the hunt for what? Point is if you didnt win the SB you accomplished the same thing we did or anyone else did. NOTHING!

I'd rather be on the decline from a dynasty than never have been a dynasty.

And yes the Yankees do suck, thanks for reminding the world.
