Whomever comes in needs at least three years, unless his first two are disasters and they really need someone to help Roseman in the draft, they can't have another 2011 draft. The 2011 draft was one of the worst in NFL history.

ESPN is reporting Lovie Smith is fired as well, hmmm.
4 wins by 6 points total.

FYI - Possibilities from various reports...
Jay Gruden - Bengals OC
Jon Gruden - ESPN
Chip Kelly - Oregon
Bill O'Brien - Penn State

Just heard the press conference got pushed back to 1pm. They also said Reid will not be made available for the conference.

14 years of Reid, wow. Will be very weird to see a new coach leading the Eagles after 14 years of Andy but it will be interesting to see. Eagles offseason should be at least a little more interesting than usual.

I thought the absolving or Roseman for any moves made before this year was a bit much. Not sure anyone could actually believe that.

He needed some time off after what he's been through and the Eagles needed a new direction. Reid was a good coach with a few exceptions. He wasn't tough enough with his players. And he always had a big blind spot when it came to quarterbacks.
He was as good as many coaches, he was certainly at least as good as Bill Cowher who got one SB win in 15 years. What did Cowher say, to papraphrase. "Luck will get you far in football. Dominate a weak division, get some lucky breaks in the playoffs and suddenly, hey, you're going to the SB and you may win if the best teams got upset."
I wish him well and some team should snap him up. But we'll have to shop carefully for a replacement and not just grab anybody.

Usually when a coach is fired only the owner is at the press conference.

I didnt like that all, Lurie gave Roseman credit for the 2012 draft but Reid took the blame for everything else. I thought it was interesting that Lurie considered firing Reid when he was 4-8.

I think Jon Gruden would be the best fit. He really cleaned house when he was hired by the Raiders, the one time Al Davis backed off and let a head coach do his thing. Gruden might rid the clubhouse of laziness and malcontents and shape the Eagles back into a true contender. The West Coast offense style would work well with a mobile QB like Vick, too.

Anybody see Reid on SportsCenter when the Eagles gave him a game ball and he made a brief speech about the past years and how he looked forward to them succeeding?

Very nice. Very classy.
