Agreed. I'm not sure how much gas Willis has left in his tank but it's worth a shot. The contract is 3 yrs. for 7.5 million. For the last few years he has been with the Ravens, two of those last three years he only rushed 107 and 100 times. He was a workhorse back when he played for Buffalo from 2004 to 2007. In fact three of his first four seasons he went for well over 1000 yards those years. I'm not aware of any character issues with him anyway.

A few brief observations here:

Offensive lineman Ryan Harris expected to re-sign with the Broncos today.CORRECTION! In the 8/3 Denver Post, Harris changed his mind and has signed with Philadelphia.

John Fox has been very pleased with the efforts of Brandon Lloyd and Lendale White. My brother in law has been out at Dove Valley and there has been a good gathering of fans out there.

As most Broncos fans know by now, The Orton trade fell through. It basically came down to Orton's contract as Miami wanted him to restructure and Orton said no. And word is through the Miami camp is the Dolphin fans are not too happy with Chad Henne and have been chanting throughout practice "We want Orton." Hmm!

I really hope Orton stays.(and is happy about it) I am a fan. I just think his experience and talent are an asset to the Broncos. Way more so than Quinn being back-up! Now, that guy they can get rid of!

The Broncos aren't leaving anything to chance regarding defensive lineman. This area of the team IMO was lacking a tad last season. The latest to sign is Ty Warren. He was previously a number one draft pick of the New England Patriots from the 2003 draft. Warren suffered a hip injury last year in the 2010 Patriot training camp and went on IR for the season. He was waived on July 29 by the Pats.

He's worth a shot as he was certainly a very productive player with the Patriots in his first few years with them. Coach Fox might be sticking his neck out on this situation as the contract is for 2 years at 5 million per season with 2.5 million guaranteed. He obviously IMO is showing commitment here regarding Warren.

We won't worry about bad luck as it is not in the cards this year!

But credit the Broncos this, if they have a losing season this year it will be the first time that back to back losing seasons has happened to this franchise since Lou Saban's last year (1971) and John Ralston's first year (1972). That is 40 years worth of football. Some time I double checked my memory banks and scanned the statistics on other NFL clubs to make sure I can make that claim. No other club in the league can make that claim-no one.

Well, the dust has finally settled on the dusty old cow town named Denver regarding Merill Hoge's diatribe with Tim Tebow Two comments:

1. (yawn)
2. As Hoge never won any Heisman's or any award of this nature and as his career started in college at Idaho State he wins an award from me-the Mr. Potatohead award!
