A first round bye is the same as winning a 1st round game; both get you into the second round. The difference is that a 1st round bye most likely means you had a better regular season. Would you rather have a guarantee of going to the 2nd round with a bye week or stand a chance of being eliminated in a 1st round playoff game? Be honest now. I don't know one fan, GM, or owner that wouldn't prefer the bye week which is a GUARANTEE of a WEEK 2 GAME.

Broncos officially ink another former CSU Ram. They signed Caleb Hanie to a 2-year deal to back up Peyton Manning. I don't wanna hate on my alma mater but this was a dumb move. Hanie was a train wreck last year when he replaced Jay Cutler.

Who's to say what a better accomplishment is... for one team to make the wildcard spot or the league leader with the top seed. Look at how many teams have won the Super Bowl from the wildcard spot.

The New York Giants came in in the same spot for the NFC as the Broncos did for the AFC... at the bottom of the respective conference leaders.

The Broncos not only went to the playoffs for the first time since 05'... I believe... but wone their first playoff game since Jake Plummer.

I was fully expecting the Broncos and TT to achieve even greater works for this next season... if given the chance.

Oh... and props to John Fox as well. He's not mentioned here much.

Sorry, I didn't mean to start a debate! I've have been hard on Tebow, as I have always been a fan of long bomb passes! Started years ago, my dad loved QBs, he loved Starr/Bradshaw. Jim McMahon reinforced my love of QBs! My dad could throw, I hated playing catch with him, easy, dad, easy!

McG has some good points and Packers did better when they had to fight from the 10-6 wildcard spot!

great shout out for mcmahon!! It'll be nice to see those long bombs being thrown again here, Go Peyton!! and Go Broncos!
Is Heine (sp?) a good pick up? I didn't follow him much in Chicago, I think he had some good games??

Something happened with Heine, which was strange. He almost beat the Packers in NFC championship game, came out of nowhere. However, when they put him in this year for Cutler, he did not do well. I personally don't think he is a bad QB.

I don't know how other teams develop QBs but watching the Packers practice, the QBs all do the same thing, no exceptions. They practice hard and I love to watch some of their throwing drills!

Ehhh, the Hanie pick isn't going to quiet the Elway haters. Caleb was awful last year in Chicago. He started 4 games, went 0-4, and racked up 3 TDs and 9 INTs. He played a very pedestrian game against the Broncos, going 12-19 for 115 and no TDs.

Elway apparently thinks he's better than his stats indicate because the Bears lost Matt Forte to injury during that time and they had the worst o-line in football.

I am always on the glass half full side, I think Heine away from Chicago will be better, he can throw! It was not his fault, Bears had some issues and you can't put it all on the QB, although many people do!

It will be tough as many fans are not happy with Peyton move, now Heine! It will take Peyton some time to get in there, adjust! I am surprised about the center, Saturday said, Peyton wanted him, more than the Broncos did. Not about money, he didn't get great money the Packers, they don't pay well!

I saw many cheering fans in Denver when they beat Pitt . What did GB fans do ?
I was never so happy for any team in any sport as I was for the Broncos that night .
Now the Broncos are cursed , like the "curse of the Bambino". The "curse of the Angelico" will only last 86 years.

Honestly i'm not a Tebow fan even though he seems like a better role model than many others but lets be serious. Tell me one team that would rather be a #6 seed than the #1. Obviously in all sports there is a time when the underdog/wild card team does go all the way. My Steelers did it a few years back too but I OBVIOUSLY would have felt safer as a better seed as does every person.
I was glad to see the Broncos backing Tebow but truthfully I didn't see him being any better this year. With a trip to the playoffs, the league took notice of him and that means more studying of his patterns on tape. Kordell Stewart (Slash) was successful in the beginning too and he was much more athletic and a better passer but they studied his tendencies and he dropped off. If they want to use him the way the Steelers did and put him on the same line with Sanchez at the same time, that will confuse defenses but as a full time QB he will always be a run first guy. At least under Elways watch he might have improved a little but going to the Jets will not develop his passing skills.
