Well it only took one screwed up contract to take 90% of the luster off Denver's otherwise great free agency period. That dead money cap hit really hurts, and now we're faced with the prospect of having to woo Dwight Freeney. Denver should just write off Elvis's pass-rushing and skip Freeney in favor of Marcus Spears. I'd rather be really good against the run than crappy against the run and have a so-so pass rush from Freeney.
This has been a kick ass free agency period for our team.
While I have an ice bag over my head trying to absorb the Elvis Dumervil boondoggle mess that's going on here, I'm in agreement. .John Elway was certainly busy all right. And all these below choices are solid and a half. This past weeks activity regarding signings:
Looks like Doom fired his agent over this whole mess. When you're 6 minutes behind due to a fax, it's clearly a lack of effort to communicate. And who uses faxes anymore anyway? What a joke.

Agreed. Marty Madid, Dumervil's now ex-agent, claims to have represented dozens of players. As far as I'm concerned he's not qualified to wash my car. As long as I've been following this club, I've seen a lot of goofy things happen. This entire ordeal is just ridiculous. And even though the NFLPA is supposedly "investigating", as is the league itself, I'd be floored it if this situation could be resolved in the Bronco's favor.
Assuming that to be the case (Elvis leaving the building), IMO I'd go after John Abraham. His salary was 4.4 million last year and he's 34. He also had 10 sacks last season. Reports are he had visited the Patriots organization and did not sign anything. There ARE some good defensive ends in this years draft. Would any be available when Denver picks (I believe 28th?) Doubtful.
In a knucklehead mood this morning I tossed on a little Monty Python on the turntable this morning. I always refer to his one liners as fitting for this situation. This one fits- "It's a putrid pile of parrot droppings."
