Default Bears cut a running back with a 20 million dollar contract, can he play for another team?

So if Cedric Benson wants to play again, the team who picks him up I believe has to pick up part of that contract. Is there any limit to how much the team who signs him is responsible for? Because if that were the case and some other team had to pick up his contract he aint gonna play anytime soon.

The Bears made a terrible pick with that chump, who held out for more money, only to screw them royally after he signed

The Bears should have sent him packing instead of Jones a couple of years ago. They traded Jones and kept him which was a big mistake. However, they've found a great RB in Forte, that kid is a stud!

ESPN - Bears send home Benson, later release troubled running back - NFL
Since the Bears flat out released him the Bears ALONE are responsible for his contract. IF another team signs him they only half to pay whatever they want.

Will another team sign him? I doubt it.

Oh, and we can thank Peanut for the loss to TB, too.

Oh boy.

The Bears have got to be the best 1-2 team out there. They are just a couple of last minute stops from being 3-0. You can blame Peanut or Rashied but the Bears just couldn't close it out.

I am still very confident that they will have a really good year. If Orton continues to click with Lloyd and Forte stays healthy, this offense will put up points, finally.

Right now there are several Chicago Bears not earning their money, they are:

Brian Urlacher (needs to have a sack or an INT by now)

Tommie Harris (2 tackles when he usually has 2 sacks by now!)

Mike Brown (playing scared to get injured/"safe")

Nathan Vasher (out of position a lot and just not up to par comapred to his past)

The bear defense would be lost without possibly the most underrated Chicago Bear aka Lance Briggs.

Now you gotta admit, the defense is playing a lot better than they were last year. And Tommie has a bad knee, so I am sure that is slowing him up some. While Urlacher should probably have atleast a pick, he really isn't meant to get a lot of sacks in this scheme. I would rather see Mike Brown be a little cautious and him still be on the field, he really is an asset out there. As for Vasher, he is just getting out-shined by Tillman, except for his bonehead play of course. And Briggs is definitely one of the best LBs in the game.

On the offensive side, the line does seem to be blocking a lot better than last year, or it may just be Forte, who knows.

I love football season.

that's true. good point. the thing with tommie is sit his behind down if he is hurt! we have dvoracek, anthony adams, marcus harrison, israel idonije, etc. We'll be fine without him for several weeks. He only has 2 tackles...he doesn't get any push on the line. I'd rather have Israel Idonije out there instead of a gimpy Tommie Harris. Israel is like 6 foot 7 and has super long arms (blocks a lot of FG's) but more importantly he gets his hands up in the throwing lanes to deflect a lot of passes. Israel is a player who, no doubt, would start on 95% of the teams in the NFL. it's like Alphonso Boone...a career 4th or 5th string back up for the Bears and leaves via free agency to automatically become a starting DT. we aren't getting Idonije enough time. It'd be another thing if Harris wasn't gimpy but he's been the same for the past 2 years. hopefully that will change sooner than later.

Oh I totally agree. We have good depth on the line with Dusty stepping up and if Tommie doesn't have his usual explosiveness ( which he doesn't ) then Idonije would be perfect to fill his spot at the 3 technique. Moving him from end to tackle was perfect since the Bears have 3 good pass rushing DEs already. I love the almost 4-6 look that the Bears are going at now. They have the athletes on the field to pull it off. We just gotta finish.
