He's young, he'll get it (hopefully). You are the face of the franchise, wearing colors from another team, not smart. He may think it isn't newsworthy or no big deal, but it really is when you play in the same league.

Seriously? It's a hat. He, like most young people, bought the hat because of the design. It's a fashion statement. Colin probably has dozens of hats featuring dozens of teams not the 49ers. LeBron received similar criticism when he donned a Yankees hat at Cleveland Indians game.

Folks made a big deal out of Derrick Rose wearing a Phillies hat at an appearance in Chicago a couple of years ago. It's more a display of fashion than attempting to be disloyal to one's team or city. Fans need to get over themselves.

I don't question his loyalty or anything I just don't understand it. Maybe he wanted a hat to match his underwear.

In that case the bay area San Jose Sharks color scheme would've matched that!

At best he shouldn't at least known some would question his decision, no matter how silly he thinks those critics are.

At least it was a team from the AFC.

This is from the file "JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, DOESNT MEAN YOU SHOULD". The Dolphins aren't paying you millions to represent them. That's like a Ford executive wearing a Toyota polo shirt to a golf outting!! He would be fired for that! Kap is part of this "I can do what I want" generation! "You cant judge me" yada yada........SMH!!

Somebody just posted that Derrick Rose got dissed for wearing a Phillies cap?? He wasn't wearing Spurs or Laker hat!!!! NOT THE SAME!!! Rose can do that!

Somebody even said that "at least it was an AFC team??" NO!!! IT'S ANOTHER NFL TEAM.....PERIOD!!!!

The fans make it possible for Kap to do what he does! You do not rep another NFL team!!

The Niners aren't paying Colin to rock Niners gear either. So, comparing him wearing a Dolphins hat to a cat wearing Nike while being paid by Reebok is not a viable one.

but some people are even saying it just for fashion,

1. he's rich enough to commission a hat with the colors he wants if there are none available

2. ironically the Bay Area San Jose Sharks have that teal/marineblue so he could've "rocked" that instead and a. supported a local bay area team and b. still been fashionable

that was me, I was just being polite , like I said before, could've worn a baseball/basketball/hockey hat and wouldn't have been a problem but really any team in your league -- just wrong.

at a minimum he should've realized this would cause controversy but he doesn't seem to get that.

I don't doubt Colin, he's playing for one of the two teams he always wanted to play for , it's just a bad decision by him.

Is Colin causing controversy or are the critics causing controversy?

i mean, i don't think its THAT big of a deal, but he still shouldn't have done it

in this day and age, people will snap a pic of anything and it'll become a controversy. he probably had a hat on that matched his outfit and/or shoes, and that was probably all it was.

But when you're the face of an NFL franchise, probably not a good idea to weear another team's gear. I mean come on dude, at least wear an MLB or NBA hat or something LOL

That didn't stop LeBron from being criticized.
