DH,
Not to debunk your opinion of Brees but his handling of the Bounty Gate scandal has diminished his appeal, at least in my eyes.
I get him backing his teammates but at the same time, he is constantly take cheap shots at Goddell and the NFL including his tweet the other night after the Packer/Seahawks debacle. IMO, Classy folks don't resort to those type of antics.. but then again, that's just my opinion.
As for the Unitas TD record.. its always cool to see records fall..
Brees had the right to take shots at him, what Goodell did was far worse. Goodell should not go around handing out ridiculous suspensions and ruin the reputations of these players, who are good men that helped out in the New Orleans community, with hardly any evidence to support his "bounty" claim to begin with.

Perhaps but it looks very suspicious when the OWNER, GM and Head Coach admit guilt in the bounty scandal. The suspended players have MORE too loose and I get why they are fighting the suspensions but Brees is merely taking pot shots at Goddell every chance he gets. that makes him look very petty..

(Mod edit-one sentence)I, every other Who Dat, and other NFL fans, commend Brees, a man of his caliber who is respected around the country has spoken, and what Goodell has done is shear debauchery. Labeling his antics as anything else is utterly foolish.

I just believe in innocent until proven guilty.
And Brees isn't the only player that ever criticized Goodell. Goodell is a terrible commissioner.
Were they Falsely accused? If the accusations were FALSE why wouldn't the owner, GM and coaches fight the suspensions just as hard? You can argue that the suspensions were far reaching, you can argue that the evidence was flimsy (evidence the public has not even been shown) but I don't think you can argue there was NO BOUNTY SYSTEM in place. That part of the debate has been settled and it was settled at least in my eyes when the owner apologized and the GM and coaches accepted their suspensions without any resistance.
It appears to me that it might just settle out after all the players have retired... the last word I heard was the latest appeal would not get heard until after the season. Who here thinks Smith, Hargrove or Fujita are playing next season? Will Smith might find a suitor but the other 2 are likely to be done. Who thinks Vilma, if he is back next year, will be playing for the Saints?
I think the Saints have weathered the storm, so to speak... Assuming Payton comes back next season, all should be good.

Players have a union (NFLPA) to protect them, so they can sue the league. NFL coaches do not, so Payton cannot sue even he wanted to. Sure the Saints may have had a pay-for-performance thing, which is a totally different thing from a bounty.

Payton should be back. Vilma might be done as well, seeming that he's 30 now and started this season off with that ailing knee injury.
