I'm posting here in a general discussion on a non-football forum (as opposed to a team specific forum on another website) in an attempt to get the widest possible range of opinions.

How do you feel about the two? I'm a Browns fan, and for some reason this has suddenly (well, because of a defensive collapse in the second half of the last two games) as a hot topic, should the Browns switch back to a 4-3 after the year? That's another question I won't get into (it's a stupid idea, like most of the things that fans and sportswriters come up with).

Instead I'm curious as 4-3 teams fans feel about their defense, not too vanilla? Not too boring?

3-4 teams, how do you feel about it?

with the right staff the 3-4 is a great base defense, if I were in the position it would be my choice.

4-3 is better imo- it puts you in a better position to defend the pass

Actually I would say that a 3-4 ( 3 linemen, 4 linebackers ) would give you a better pass defense. Having a extra linebacker instead of a lineman to drop back into coverage. A 3 - 4 also gives you the opportunity to come up with more exotic blitzes. You need better athletes to pull off a 3 - 4. The biggest weak point of the 3 - 4 is stopping the run because you have one less defensive tackle to plug up the middle.

Could'nt have said it better myself! the 3-4 eliminates most screens, all shovels and allows you to press outside the numbers for strech & sweeps, also you have better angles on slants & TE spy looks. On the ground you might give up 2-3yds. per play but it is better than stopping 9 plays at the line but the 10th one going for 60yds. about it!
